IYLEP Institute wins VCU Community Engagement Award

100_0233The 2012 IYLEP Social Media Institute has been recognized with this year’s VCU Community Engagement Award for Teaching. Our IYLEP team received the award at an event of the VCU Division of Community Engagement on Thursday. Our program was one of four university-wide winners. The other three projects were recognized for research, service and student-led engagement.

In the summer 2012, our social media program combined 24 Iraqi college students with 19 VCU students in 10 project teams that developed social media campaigns for nonprofit organizations in Richmond. The program, which will be in its fourth year this summer, is sponsored by a grant from the U.S. State Department. Please see our program website for more information on the IYLEP Social Media Institute.
