Meet the iPadJournos: Presentation, publication and grant support

iPadJournos poster

The iPadJournos project is going into the second round this spring semester. Two weeks ago, we launched the new course, which is supported by a Knight News Challenge Bridge Grant from AEJMC that will help to add a collaborative video production component to the project and lead to a new publication platform. We will closely work with Thomas Grasty, a 2010 winner of the Knight News Challenge and developer of the video editing platform Stroome

Jeff Nugent, co-director of VCU’s Center for Teaching Excellence, and I will present the pilot project at the Annual Meeting of the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative in Denver on February 5. Please see our presentation “Meet the iPadJournos: How iPads Improved Student Engagement and Learning Outcomes in a Journalism Seminar” and our presentation material.

I have also published an article on the iPadJournos project in the journal Teaching Journalism and Mass Communication. Please read “Reporting with the iPadJournos: Educating the Next Generation of Mobile and Social Media Journalists” in the current issue of the journal.

And of course follow this semester’s iPadJournos on our course website, Facebook and Twitter.
