The iPadJournos project is going into the second round this spring semester. Two weeks ago, we launched the new course, which is supported by a Knight News Challenge Bridge Grant from AEJMC that will help to add a collaborative video production component to the project and lead to a new publication platform. We will closely work with Thomas Grasty, a 2010 winner of the Knight News Challenge and developer of the video editing platform Stroome.
Jeff Nugent, co-director of VCU’s Center for Teaching Excellence, and I will present the pilot project at the Annual Meeting of the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative in Denver on February 5. Please see our presentation “Meet the iPadJournos: How iPads Improved Student Engagement and Learning Outcomes in a Journalism Seminar” and our presentation material.
I have also published an article on the iPadJournos project in the journal Teaching Journalism and Mass Communication. Please read “Reporting with the iPadJournos: Educating the Next Generation of Mobile and Social Media Journalists” in the current issue of the journal.
