Warren Buffett takes over the Richmond Times-Dispatch

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is taking over the newspaper business from Media General, including the Richmond Times-Dispatch and 62 other newspapers in the Southeast. In addition to the $142 million takeover, Berkshire Hathaway is also granting Media General a $400 million loan and a $45 million credit line to avoid bankruptcy. I was interviewed on the impact of this takeover on the Richmond media market on WRIR’s Open Source show, which was also the last show of host Will Snyder.

Please listen to the entire interview, which starts at 38:00 in this week’s show.
