Will the New York Times paywall work?

The New York Times will erect a paywall on its website on Monday. Users will only be able to read 20 articles for free every month. For more articles, users need to pay a monthly subscription fee that costs $15 to $35. But reports already show that there are many loopholes in this paywall strategy. Articles posted on social media will not count towards the monthly limit. Jimmy Barrett interviewed me this morning on his Richmond Morning News show on WRVA 1140 about the challenges to the newspaper business model and the prospects of the paywall strategy.

You can listen to the interview here: “Newspapers Adapt to the Internet”

And Jimmy Barrett got it right at the end of the interview: “Go Rams!”
