Students report for Richmond.com

The students in my Reporting for Print and Web class (MASC 303) at Virginia Commonwealth University have reported and written event previews for the local portal Richmond.com. The students, most of them are juniors, pitched their story ideas to Richmond.com Editor Karri Peifer in February and then went to work. The stories varied from ’80s rap act Salt’n Pepa to the French Film Festival.

The following is a selection of the students’ stories:

“RVAJazzFest Hits the Fan” (By Brad Fulton, April 7, 2011)

“French Film Fest Preview” (By Kristine Hadeed, March 23, 2011)

“Salt-n-Pepa: The First Ladies of Hip-Hop” (By Nick LaManna, March 21, 2011)

“Richmond’s Very Own Munchkins” (By Melissa Smith, March 16, 2011)

“Kodo Drummers Live in RVA” (By Gillan Ludlow, March 16, 2011)
